2017 really was a terrible year for non coms

February 12, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 4 Comments

Taking a look at the final stats for 2017, it really was a terrible year for non coms. Only 11 non coms were in the top 100 sales reported by DN Journal. Only 2 of those names were new gtlds and domain investors reaped no benefit as the registries sold Casino.Online (Radix) and Video.Games (Rightside). […]

NameJet January sales led by PY.net

February 6, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 2 Comments

NameJet released their January sales and PY.net was the top sale at $27,000. NamesCon results are not included in the list. ZSV.com was the first 3L.com sold and it went for only $11,100. The first non .com sale after Py.net was onyx.io for $6,100. Overall January looked slow to me, hopefully with NamesCon over things […]

Should you auction your new gtld at a live auction?

January 30, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 5 Comments

There were 135 lots in the NamesCon live auction. Of those 135 lots, 20 were new gtlds. 15 out of the 20 sold. The top sale was Business.Loans at $10,000. Tax.help sold for $6,000 and Porn.Club sold for $5,000. A lot of $300 and $500 sales that with a healthy commission probably add up to […]

Where did those 6 figure offers go for FakeNews.com?

January 30, 2018 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

We wrote a year ago about FakeNews.com and it’s owner receiving 6 figure offers. There is a story on DallasNews.com today about a California man, George Bacon who purchased FakeNews.com 11 years ago for $250. From the article: Fakenews.com isn’t the only domain Bacon owns — he buys and sells them regularly as a hobby […]

BrandBucket sent out their January newsletter and it seems that Michael Krell will be leaving the company. Michael who is one of if not the most prolific seller in the history of the site will be leaving effective January 31. Best of luck to Michael who had a tough job balancing his own portfolio vs […]

GoDaddy To Acquire Main Street Hub

January 23, 2018 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

GoDaddy is looking to expand it’s offerings in social media with the acquisition of Main Street Hub. I have looked into them before, I had someone who wanted to start a competitor since they were already doing this stuff on an informal basis. I want to see what the pricing will be when GoDaddy runs […]

Back in May of 2017 we posted about Mike Berkens selling Learn.Wine for a net of $10,000. Well Mike is back at it with the sale of Talk.Show. Mike tweeted out the details today and while there is an NDA, there is some info that can be taken away with regards to the domain sale. […]

How to Negotiate Marketing Budget for Domain Lease Agreements

December 30, 2017 by Alvin Brown Leave a Comment

If you hang around the domain industry long enough, then you’ll likely discover most domain portfolios often sit priced unrealistically, and collecting more dust than inquiries and sales. And if researching and drumming up leads, inquiries, and sales for your domain portfolio is not within your wheelhouse, then things aren’t looking up for you, and […]

NameJet Scores a COOL $3K Emoji Domain Auction Close

December 26, 2017 by Alvin Brown 8 Comments

It’s a been a few weeks since NameJet debuted its Premium .WS Emoji Domain Auction. In my opinion, the results have been interesting to say the least when compared to emoji domain auctions over at GoDaddy. GoDaddy has fallen completely off the map for emoji domain auctions in the last week or so, but that’s […]
