Domain Investing Stats and Tips

Incomplete data is worthless

April 15, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 4 Comments

I know there are a few who always say they don’t release any info on their sales. There are others who feel they know why and it’s not for anything honorable or on the up and up. Whether someone is trying to hype themselves up, boast about something that didn’t happen, or is just a […]

Should women be avoided when trying to sell domain names?

April 12, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 8 Comments

NO! So a thread starter on Namepros posted the following: By selling domains to end-users, I got an impression that the women I contacted are absolutely not interested in buying domains. Since women in almost all industries are increasingly occupying managerial positions, this could constitute a major barrier to this domain selling mode (via cold […]

April 10, 2018 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

Verisign reported their trending keywords for March. Fortnite was no surprise as that game is on fire. The list was pretty random this month. .COM .NET president general passion  tampa fortnite  hospital  vietnam keep  fairy  hotels  rates  may  jumbo boxing residential podcast  rights amazon  grit  weather

Namepros has a thing for April Fool’s Day

April 3, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 3 Comments

Each year, many tech companies and websites do something special for April Fools’ Day, and Google has done some of the best. They spend weeks and sometimes months preparing elaborate April Fools’ Day jokes, pranks, and/or features – all in good fun. NamePros has been participating each year for the past four years to bring […]

Wrong feeling on a brandable costs me some money

March 29, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 6 Comments

So back in May of 2016 I purchased a 29 domain lot of BrandBucket listed names. Cost $1,500. I really wanted 1 name, Inteleca.com, I liked some of the other 5 letter names and some I really didn’t love, so I thought I would lower the acquisition cost of the portfolio purchase and liquidate some […]

March 25, 2018 by Alvin Brown 3 Comments

As you know or may not know, Kickstart Commerce offers affordable domain leasing for our growing portfolio of domain names. Typically, when I receive inquiries about some of my most popular domain names and met with sticker shock from uneducated domain buyers, I always offer a payment plan to buy the domain, or a leasing […]

A big difference in negotiating a sale on GoDaddy vs Sedo

March 23, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 19 Comments

There is an art to negotiation, a risk taken by turning down an offer and countering for more. You may end up turning down an offer you believe is fair for the prospect of a better price. I kept most of my names at Sedo and over the years I have had my fair share […]

Purchased for $20 last October, Mike Mann sells WholesomeChild.com for $24,888

March 22, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 7 Comments

Mike Mann announced the sale of WholesomeChild.com for $24,888. The domain was purchased by WholesomeChild.com.au. Namepros users don’t get the sale, someone on Twitter replied to Mike that he has some shitty names and Mike wants to know what happened to Schilling and Ham because he wants some competition. Don’t take this personal, but you […]

Winning the UDRP doesn’t always mean you’re done

March 21, 2018 by Raymond Hackney 1 Comment

When a bad UDRP decision comes down against a domain owner, like the one on ADO.com, comments flood in to go to court, win it back there. Well that’s a two way street, companies follow that same premise. I read a very good post on IPLegalCorner.com by Gerald M. Levine. The post discusses something that […]
