Dynadot wins the Namepros end of the year favorite registrar poll

January 15, 2021 by Raymond Hackney 8 Comments

So Dynadot won the Namepros end of the year poll. The poll was held to get the voting on schedule for future years. Epik still won best registrar 2020. This poll had some different mechanisms such as three votes. Even though it said no employees vote, some employees did vote, but no way to prevent […]

End of the year favorite/best registrar poll at Namepros sees Dynadot out to a big lead

December 17, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 5 Comments

A year end favorite registrar poll has kicked off on Namepros. It’s not for 2020 or 2021. A few members suggested that the best/favorite registrar poll happening in March or June did not make sense. It should happen in December. Epik did win 2020 favorite/registrar poll. This is just a “We don’t want to wait […]

“Why isn’t the Namepros marketplace the wholesale gold standard?”

August 25, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 6 Comments

So a couple days ago I wrote about DAN integrating with DNWE.com. While discussing that news on the phone with another domain investor as I liked that change. He asked me what about Namepros? He wondered if it’s only wholesale pricing why does anyone want to pay 12% commission to do a deal with someone […]

June 24, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 1 Comment

David Castello joined Namepros today and for newer domain investors it’s a chance to network a little with legends in domain business. David joined under @CastelloBrothers and announced that all Castello Brothers domain names are for sale at CastelloBrothers.com. Ron Jackson did do a feature on the announcement last month. Michael Castello has been a […]

Would a verified marketplace be something Namepros should entertain?

May 4, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 10 Comments

Former Namepros member MapleDots left a comment on a post I published yesterday. The idea for a verified section of Namepros is a good one in my opinion. MapleDots wrote: I suggested namepros make a new forum section for verified accounts, real names or real business names, and make that for sale forum exclusive to […]

Namepros updates terms after Avatar controversy

May 3, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 19 Comments

Last week I wrote about the Elad N avatar controversy and how that got Namepros in a tizzy for over a week. Namepros has now updated their terms and Elad told me on Twitter he is not returning to Namepros. As promised, the procedures and guidelines were updated. Here are the updated guidelines: https://www.namepros.com/threads/guidelines-for-usernames-and-profile-photos.1027786/ The […]

Will an avatar lead to the downfall of a domain forum?

April 30, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

Often it’s not what you say it’s how you say it. In the world of forums it’s how you moderate. A Jack Nicholson meme from the Stephen King classic, “The Shining” has set off quite the ruckus at Namepros. Longtime member Elad N had been using the classic “Here’s Johnny!” avatar on his Namepros account. […]

Namepros goes back to it’s roots

March 31, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 1 Comment

With everything going on today Namepros is providing a bit of nostalgia, transporting users back to a simpler time. Hop in the time machine and go back to 2004 It does take me back, I always liked that blue with the dimpled dots on the side. So if you haven’t logged in for a few […]

Epik wins the Namepros 2020 Best registrar

March 31, 2020 by Raymond Hackney 9 Comments

Epik wins the Namepros 2020 Best registrar As I have stated before this year’s poll was pretty contentious for the first time the poll was public. This allowed for everyone to see who voted in the interest of transparency. Over 28,000 views and over 500 replies. The number of votes this year was almost identical […]
