A look at the keywords that are rising and declining in a Covid world

November 8, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

Popular Keywords in 2020

A couple weeks back someone had asked on Namepros if there were certain categories or keywords being devalued due to Covid-19.

Are you dropping certain names in specific niches, or at a minimum lowering prices?

SearchEngineJournal published an article on the topic from an online search viewpoint.

The research is courtesy of BrightEdge

Here are the online search categories that are doing well, in descending order of the biggest winners first:

  • Collaboration and Teams
  • Telehealth
  • Online Learning
  • Pet Adoption
  • Garden and Patio
  • Photography
  • Consumer Electronics
  • Gaming
  • Streaming
  • Video
  • UI/UX
  • Digital Transformation
  • Document Management
  • Online University
  • Baby and Maternity
  • Beauty
  • Sports
  • Apparel and Footwear
  • Customer Experience and CRM
  • IT Management

2020 Online Search Categories in Decline

These are the search categories that are experiencing a decline:

  • Things to Do
  • Restaurants
  • Health Topics
  • Sporting Goods
  • Hotels
  • Flights
  • Concerts

There are not a lot of surprises. Telehealth and online collaboration are trends that will stay strong in my opinion.

I would not give up or lower a great travel related domain name as once Covid passes no matter how long it takes, those niches will have a bounce back.

It is very rare that health issues have been declining in the US, searches have increased in COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, panic attacks, anxiety attacks and many health issues related to the pandemic in the US and worldwide
