Celebrities just don’t seem to care about their domain names, they should. We all realize the importance of digital identity and the potential to grow sour on a social network.
That means you should own your .com. Now for an investor many celeb domain names have gone for about the price of a UDRP. So a celeb might think well I will pay around that to get the name back. At $15,500 a UDRP is the cheaper route to go.
Another celebrity domain name fetched a potential pretty penny (auction not paid for yet) for GoDaddy. The domain name was left to expire and closed at $15,500 at GoDaddy auctions.
Queen Latifah is a pretty popular figure in the world of entertainment. Movies, tv, talkshows, music, etc… So it’s odd the domain was left to expire. It was registered back in 1998.
The registrant looks to have been Frame Media Group. Established in 2014 frame media group is a multimedia company owning and operating various web properties and lifestyle brands across the verticals of sports, entertainment, and culture.
Checking whoxy.com it seems they were the registrant for other Queen Latifah related domain names like QueenLatifahShow.com, QueenLatifahMusic.com, QLShow.com and about a dozen more.
Now Sony Pictures was the previous registrant of QueenLatifah.com. When the show rebooted in 2013 the domain had content for the Queen Latifah Show. So somewhere along the line Sony gave up rights as registrant and Frame Media Group took over and now Queen Latifah may have lost her domain name.
These names are always tricky. Sometimes the domain investor gets a udrp and sometimes $6,000 and a signed script.
