Last week Elliot Silver wrote about OliverStone.com and that it had expired. The auction closed at $1,508 on NameJet.
The domain has now been renewed and the legendary director has his website up and running.
The interesting thing about the domain was that Mr. Stone actually paid up for his name and gave a signed copy of a movie script to the seller.
Ron Jackson at DNJournal reported:
In a private transaction, Matt Field sold OliverStone.com for $6,000 and yes, the buyer was the famous movie director. Matt said he also received a signed script from the upcoming movie Savages from the celebrity buyer. One day, that could be worth more than the 6K he got for the domain.
There have been a bunch of celebrity domains expiring lately with most getting renewed. I wrote about JohnMadden.com expiring and contacted IMG Worldwide to let them know. They renewed immediately.
Update: The domain actually was not renewed, Bill Sweetman from Name Ninja won the domain and gave it back to Oliver Stone.
