So back at the end of 2019 I took a look at the most expensive names on BrandBucket. Interestingly not one of the names in that post are still on BrandBucket. You can take a look at those BrandBucket listings and their asking price at the time. Then again last August I took a look at the most expensive names.
One thing that continues to hold true is that 3L.coms dominate the high price list. Last year Vyz.com was the highest price name at $960,000. It’s still listed, but there are now five names priced higher. Including 3 three letter .coms.
Kix.com is the highest priced name at $1.8m, followed by Medic.com at $1,545,000 and Milan.com at $1.2m.
Tin.com is no longer for sale and does not resolve. Break.com the long running comedy/humor website that closed up shop in 2018 lowered it’s priced by $11K from last year, $679,800, an odd number.
Some not familiar with BrandBucket will ask why would you pay 30% to BrandBucket for a name that will get a ton of offers? There are different tiers for the premium names.
These are major names and I don’t think most would give exclusivity to one brandable marketplace. These names cannot be on Afternic or DAN or GoDaddy. BrandBucket does have a partnership with Sedo so there is added exposure allowed there.
These would all be 15% commission unless they got a better deal.
- 30% for names below $10,000 USD
- 25% for names between $10,000 USD and $50,000 USD
- 20% for names between $50,000 USD and $100,000 USD
- 15% for names above $100,000 USD
So you get a better rate than you would at Afternic.

Very surprised Kix.com is not owned by General Mills for the cereal or for the 80’s rock band 😀
