A couple days ago I wrote about popular keywords and their historical sales data where the keyword was the last word in the domain name. In this post I am presenting data where the keyword is at the start.
Certain keyword do well in either first or last position. Examples include Tech and Shop. Other perform better at the start, Buy, Get and Smart would be perfect examples.
The following is a list of popular keywords where the domain sale started in that keyword. (Certain keywords have had big sales of just the keyword alone. See, Digital.com, Shop.com
| Keyword | Total sales | Total Last 3 years | Dollar Volume | Average Price |
| The | 10,601 | 4,753 | $10.75m | $1,029 |
| Crypto | 888 | 694 | $1.5m | $1,642 |
| Shop | 967 | 381 | $5.9m | $6,056 |
| Data | 624 | 262 | $3.7m | $5,951 |
| Pay | 717 | 266 | $1.9m | $2,608 |
| Buy | 977 | 365 | $1.6m | $1,603 |
| Get | 1,258 | 523 | $1,7m | $1,322 |
| Coin | 605 | 347 | $883.8k | $1,461 |
| Tech | 1,156 | 516 | $1.2m | $1,020 |
| Digital | 898 | 336 | $1.6m | $1,791 |
| Smart | 1,372 | 576 | $2.3m | $1,684 |
When interpreting the data, take a few things into consideration. Namebio doesn’t always differentiate between a suffix or starting with the keyword.
The is the perfect example, I made sure to take $140,000 of the total dollar volume because of the two top Therapists.com sales. The names can read the rapist and Namebio includes that. The is still by far the highest selling keyword at the start of a domain name.
DotDB.com has released the top 500 keywords registered by extension count.
I hope this post is a help for those doing keyword research and on the fence about certain domain names at auction or closeouts.

Note: There are many sales that are unreported each month. We cannot comment on the unknown, so we deal with what’s reported to, and by, reliable sources.

Thank you, it was a pleasure to read.
Great post!
