Domain Investing Stats and Tips

Even when misspelled Poker and Casino related names bring the dollars

May 3, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

Poker and Casino are two keywords that bring the cash when it comes to domain names.

Even when you are dealing with misspellings the interest is there from domain investors.

On Saturday two domains closed above $4,400 at DropCatch. Pokre.com and Casno.com closed at $4,450 and $4,444 respectively.  Both gambling related domain names were owned and dropped by the same registrant.

Both domain names were registered back in 2000.

Here is how they looked in 2003

Pokre.com

Around 2007 they started being parked at Fabulous with a for sale link.

Another domain owned by the former registrant went at NameJet for $3,150. Caino.com.

It’s crazy that you can have a name with a for sale page up for so many years and not have a single enquiry. Drop it and it sells for over $4k.

      Totally agree with you.
The buyers or suckers could have bought it cheaper.
Why domains drop are being bought higher than the for sale price….oh well there are suckers ….
I want to hear from those suckers..

It seem like these new domain owners will also fail to monetize these effectively if the previous owner’s couldn’t do it either.

Or is there a smarter way to get an ROI significantly greater than the approximately $4,500 cost for each of these domains?

You know Declan I saw that but since it went to NameJet, thought it was used for something else. But no, same registrant. Thank you.

Nothing really beats the casino names. We have very diverse portfolio of names but casino names always sell for the most and have made the most money. The key reason is that casino domain buyers already know they need a good domain and they (in most cases) have enough money to afford the domain. Even three word domains go for 5 figures.

Even though misspelling names are not quality. The best value for them are when brands forward them to their actual websites. That’s why they bring in the dollars. Remember, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
