Long .com names that brought in the money

We want short, catchy, memorable! But what about long and sometimes hard to spell?

There was a time when exact match domains were very popular. Many exact match domain names were pretty long.

In 2010 articles started coming out from places like Moz, with titles such as The Problems With Exact Match Domains

There has been some talk of the power of exact match domains recently and more so since Matt Cutts mentioned that Google would be looking into the strength of exact-match domains within the SERP’s.

SEOBook wrote Why Exact Match Domains are not as important as many SEO’s think.

Exact match only gives you that bonus on exact match. Not a collection of keywords – just that 1 word. And tying your business to 1 keyword can be risky.

In 2012 SEO Roundtable wrote: Google EMD Update: Exact Match Domains No Longer Rank As Well

Google is going after “low quality” exact match domains (EMD) to ensure they do not rank well in the Google search results. Matt said this algorithm update only impacts 0.6% of English-US queries.

There are 2,205 reported .com sales at Namebio. They total $1.8 million in sales and an average price of $807. Only 5 of the top 30 sales are 2017 or later.
