So back in May of 2016 I purchased a 29 domain lot of BrandBucket listed names. Cost $1,500.
I really wanted 1 name, Inteleca.com, I liked some of the other 5 letter names and some I really didn’t love, so I thought I would lower the acquisition cost of the portfolio purchase and liquidate some at Namepros. My cost working out to $51.71 a name.
In the interest of transparency here is the list, the number at the end is the BrandBucket list price.

So 1 name I looked to move right away was Phiona.com, it was the highest list price as priced by BrandBucket.
The auction had interest and closed at $130.
The winner L2 posted that the domain sold today for full price. I congratulated him, and wondered why I didn’t see the value, but at the time I just didn’t love that name.
On the bright side the name I wanted, that I knew would sell Inteleca.com did sell for listed price – 10% discount. I moved a bunch of other names on the list that I didn’t like.
I still hold Mibby.com which I thought was number 2 or 3 on the list. Icozo.com was one I forgot about but with the whole ICO craze I get some lowball offers.
Never know in domaining, especially with brandables.

The wonderful world of “lottery” Brandables will always offer up some surprises!
so it sold for $5300?
Yes
Both good names – Inteleca + Phiona
I admire the humility, too many times I read blog posts with people bragging like they do no wrong or their special. I had to stop reading dsad and morganlintion my wife got tired of me throwing up on the keyboard.
I don’t get 5300 USD for Phiona.com.
ty for posting Raymond
For invented brandables, the game is much tougher (as compare to keyword based names). There are number of factors that play a role in their sales
1) Likeability – you just do not know how many buyers will like the name. It is very subjective. If a name is very much liked by one person, it may not even deserve a second look by many others. Additionally, buyer is not able to make a decision if they are presented 10/20 names, they would probably like to view couple of hundred names before making a decision.
2) Alternatives – what other choices are there for buyer. By their nature, there are many many combinations, and even small substitutions can generate plethora of names. It is quite possible that buyer may get the idea of the of the word and then himself can play around with some substitutions.
Additionally, potential buyers are somewhat afraid of ‘similar sounding’ names that could potentially lead to trademark issues. One just cannot do enough research and be confident enough.
At the end of day, sellers do take the risk, may be they have other domains where gains outweigh the risk. As always, ‘balanced’ portfolio is the way to go.
