Brandable Bits – Bite size nuggets of Brandable news and info

BrandBucket reaching out to some domain owners is not welcomed

BrandBucket has apparently been emailing some people to come sell their domains on BrandBucket and some do not like it. One commenter here said the following:

(Edit)

Can you tell Krell to stop spamming is offering to sell our 5 figure domains for 30 percent commission,
By forwarding to their parking page at brand bucket.

We have no desire so scree off Krell, your awfully close with being hit by a can spam lawsuit along with brand bucket of you don’t F off

Another prominent domain owner emailed me and said he did not want his name mentioned, but was not pleased with the email from BrandBucket. In this case I will say that people are not doing their homework. This domain investor is a big name in the business and a first grader would know they would never A) give BrandBucket exclusivity and B) They would never be paying 30% commission to anyone.

So while I believe in outbound marketing, BrandBucket may have to make sure they know who they are contacting at the personal level and not just a domain they would like on their platform.

A Cool Tool

Namepros member Hookbox posted a website that should be helpful for those wondering how to pronounce certain names.

HowToPronounce.com

The site has some cool features, like the ability to record your own pronunciation and then play it back to check how you pronounced it.

Multiple languages are supported along with definitions and translations.

Fresh Regs

I see Michael Krell just picked up CaptainLabs.com and Keith DeBoer SpaceBunch.com. There was another domainer regging some fresh Tech plus suffix names. The one thing I notice is these domains all have BrandBucket nameservers but you get a 404 because the logo and everything else has to be done. I am not sure I would want my domain showing a 404, someone might look it up and then just move on to another domain name.

Yes, Michael Krell is going to need to change his title from Brand Ambassador to Brand Spammer.

Listen with a parking page, a communication link, and escrow, nobody needs to pay 30% commission. For maybe 20-30 minutes worth hard labor of sitting in the comfort of my home, in my nice chair, I am not willing to fork over thousands of dollars, I would rather send my kids to college, than give Krell to push bids higher in the aftermarkets.

I like BrandBucket but I just F*KGIN hate spammers. This is not the right thing to do for BrandBucket.

I think 30% commission is fair for most brandable domains as some will be hard to sell without any marketing. Personally, I think you have more chance to sell a brandable domain parked at BrandBucket than any other marketplace. I love their for sale landing pages. A great, beautiful, simple, clean and secure interface.

I think I can explain the 404 error page for recent domain registrations. I have hand registered about 130+ brandable domain names this month that I will submit to BrandBucket. I know most of them will be accepted and it is easier to automatically set the name servers to BrandBucket than manually select the ones who have been accepted.

    Hey Raymond,

I can’t speak to the other issues you’ve raised but I have to correct you on the 404 thing. My Space*Bunch domain goes to a BB lander even though its not yet listed on the BB platform. https://www.brandbucket.com/spacebunch
    This is the norm.

    Cap/tain/Labs does get a 404 but I believe that’s a red herring.

    Cheers!

    Keith

All the names I had checked Keith showed a 4040 glad your name is now correct. Tech/ozy/.com and a bunch of others are showing 404 as well.

I don’t think Keith is fucking with me. He just saying what he sees.

I notice Keith had nothing to say about the complaints from other commenters about the spamming.
