Someone Wants to buy up the 7N.com namespace

November 20, 2015 by Raymond Hackney

Someone is looking to buy up the 7N.com space and laid out there plans in public. A member on Namepros is asking people for help, not money, but help on buying up the 7N.com namespace.

Here is part of the post from DomainEmpire on Namepros:

Why am I sharing this story with you ? :)
We’ve no way to check the availability of a so big number of domains and not even a way to be sure to have extracted all 7N without 0-4

May someome confirm the number if possible 7N combimation excluding 0-4 ?
We should be aroud 2,097.730 (more or less) but I’m not a mathematician so I’ve used some complex techniques to setup this list.

If someone has a way to quickly check their availability and to supply the full available list, we’d appreciate it.
Here’s the full list of 7N (excl 0-4) that I’ve created: www.dnempire.com/7n.rar

If you can help with the following steps, the game will start soon :)

You can email the list to: domainsales (at) domainempire.com

***Last second update:
We’ve just been confirmed that 7N w/out 0-4 are exactly 2097152 so we only need your help to find a way to check for their availability in bulk in order to give an estimate budget to our investor even if every week some dozens of thousands are sold out.
The easy way will be to ask to our Gd agent/Gd staff to grab all the available ones at the time of receipt of the funds but I must know first how many of them are still available and “a first version” of the list if someone knows how doing this job :)

Now some members have wondered why tell the public your plans ? Others have asked if this is manipulation and equated it with rigging the market. Another member asked if the industry needs this and aren’t we better than this ? My first question would be who is this WE ? Domain investors are too diverse a group and most don’t agree on too much.

We have never seen these types of things in domaining before. You could talk about who controlled all the really short names like 2L or 2N, but to think that a space as big as 7N.com get this much interest is truly remarkable.

I love this! Not because I’m buying in that market, but because I have been domaining for so long, it’s great to see all the activity. Could be hype, but I do believe that in the future there will be value in excess of reg fees on most domain names.

Very interesting to say the least.

How do you spell P-e-n-n-y s-t-o-c-k-s?

One person or group cornering a weak market never has a good outcome.

Someone — many someones — will end up holding the bag.

Also, in the financial world, such activity is deemed illegal.

And, certainly, 7N on a grand scale, is a very bad bet, a Ponzi scheme.

Why would they need help with this?

    8^7 = 2,097,152

Nobody needs a mathematician to punch 3 buttons on a calculator.

What investor would entrust up to $20 million to someone who can’t do basic math … and who can’t even estimate which domains are available

People don’t accumulate tens of millions of dollars by hiring people who CAN’T COUNT to advise them on making unprecendentedly large investments in NUMERICAL domains!

Sounds like a publicity stunt to me. If it’s real, then it isn’t competent.

P.S. If math isn’t somebody’s strong suit, I’m not making fun of that. A million other ways to be smart. Just saying that anybody about to spend money like this would hire somebody who can crunch the numbers … and not publish some thread on NamePros.

Registrars must be laughing. Sorry to see, many domainers will be burning their fingers.

Knowing who domain empire is I would say that the post is at the very least somewhat legit however I think even for them buying out the remaining 7 number dot coms without a 0 or 4 might be a little to much to take on.
