A look at repeating numbers in .com and .net

December 30, 2014 by Raymond Hackney

Yesterday after posting about the availability of the same repeating letter, Vincent Jacques asked about what repeating numbers looked like ? So I took a look at numbers 0 through 9 in .com and .net. No surprise that 8 was the most popular and you cannot register a repeating 8 until you are ready to go to 43 characters. 8 was also the most regged in .net, you need to go out 26 places before you can register repeating 8’s in .net. It looks like 40/41/42/ repeating 8’s in com were regged last week by the same Chinese registrant. A lot of the repeating 8’s I looked at were parked at InternetTraffic.com.

When looking at some of the repeating letters there are some interesting redirects and websites. William Hill the big UK sportsbook owns 00000.com as a Chinese betting site. 22222.com/44444.com/99999.com are all owned by the same registrant at Fabulous that refers to Piss Therapy. 88888.com which Frank Schilling sold for $245,000 does not propagate.

Nice follow-up, repeating numbers make much more sense to me than do repeating letters.
