August 6, 2022 by Raymond Hackney 4 Comments

Braden Pollock posted two nice sales on Friday. Laura.com was sold for $250,000. It’s no secret that first name.coms are highly prized. The site looks like it will be an ecommerce site with a Shopify landing page up currently. Laura which was a very popular name in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s is still in […]

A lot of solid keywords in .app dropping lately

August 2, 2022 by Raymond Hackney 1 Comment

Since about the middle of July Docky.ly has been on a catching spree for .app domain names. A lot of solid keywords were caught and even some one letter like C.app and R.app. I don’t have the exact figures but I am sure many of these names have premium renewals or else the prices would […]

Vey.com closes at $30,250 second time around on the reauction

July 30, 2022 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

Vey.com was registered back in 1997, sold for $4,000 in 2007 at Sedo. It was left to expire and caught by DropCatch. The auction closed at $48,250. It was unpaid and reauctioned, it closed on Saturday at $30,250. Closing on a Saturday in the summer probably didn’t help with the bidding action. According to DotDB.com […]

Btoc.com sold for the third time in 7 years according to Namebio. The domain name has a landing page in Chinese where the domain name is for sale. Now interestingly one of those sales must have not gone through. The name sold earlier this month for $8,950 at Sedo and now today it sold for […]

Base.xyz closes at $5,251 to lead Sedo new gTLD auction

July 28, 2022 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

Sedo wrapped up their New gTLD auction and as I expected Base.xyz topped the chart with $5,251. It should be noted that a fair number of names had premium renewals. So those who looked them up probably tempered their bidding. base.xyz 5,251 USD 2022-07-28 Sedo star.app 2,575 USD 2022-07-28 Sedo properties.app 2,350 USD 2022-07-28 Sedo […]

I am not sure boasting about this was the best look

July 26, 2022 by Raymond Hackney 10 Comments

Marksmen released a case study about a domain name acquisition they handled for a client. If you can get past all the boastful fluff like “our team knows their way around an acquisition like a top chef knows the temperature of a perfect mid-rare steak.” It seems they felt particularly proud of the fact that […]

Byte.xyz $129,888 sale cancelled

July 26, 2022 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

Back on July 18, I posted about Swetha making her biggest sale to date. Byte.xyz at $129,888. She tweeted out it was cancelled. That really sucks and sorry to hear that. It will be interesting to see if they try to come back under a different id and make an offer at a lower price.

010.com closes at $121,150

July 25, 2022 by Raymond Hackney Leave a Comment

I wrote a couple days ago about 010.com. KT Corportation out of South Korea let a real gem drop. 010.com was left to expire and was caught by DropCatch. The auction went on and on back and forth First1 ended up winning the auction as NewYorker bowed out. The closing price was $121,150. The auction […]
