Taking a look at Monday’s domain name sales action and names that transacted for the second time around. BuyDomains makes a nice flip, Stock.Global from $8,000 to $208.
Sometimes it’s as simple as the name expired and it’s not an end user buying but rather a domain investor. Sometimes it is a sale to another end user. Other times the name even though expired is a bit more trendy and trades at a higher price.
These second time around posts can be used in a variety of ways, sometimes it’s to see the burn down value of a name, what were investors willing to pay for a name an end user once valued so high?
Perhaps it’s to see a great flip, a name acquired on the cheap that was flipped for 10, 20, 100x.
I do like looking at names that were allowed to expire at GoDaddy and then the very next year also expire, how did sentiment change, when just about all the variables are the same.
Hopefully you get something out of them even if it’s just to satisfy a curiosity.
Flips
BlueSkyTech.com what a difference 13 years makes. The name was sold at Snapnames for $106 back in 2007 and closed at NameJet on Monday at $6,980.
EcoRentals.com sold for $458 back in 2013 on NameJet and BuyDomains sold it for $3,300 on Monday.
BestPlugins.com closed on 5/11 back in 2014 and it went for just $198, 5/11 this year and it closes at $3,050 both times on GoDaddy.
CookApp.com sold for $715 on GoDaddy auctions back in 2012 and it closed today at GoDaddy auctions for $2,750

Inxurance.com forget second or third time, Fourth time, the name sold for 3,201 in 2018 at NameJet, before that it went for 787 in 2017 at NameJet and 150 in 2008 at Sedo. It sold today for $3,305 at Sedo.
ExchangeHosting.com another name that transacted 4 times. The name closed today at GoDaddy for $3,000 after selling in 2016 for $660 at GoDaddy, $1,100 in 2017 at Flippa, $1,550 at Flippa again in 2018.
Flops
LoadApp.com sold for $1,000 in November of 2019 and left to expire at GoDaddy auctions on Monday. It closed for $313.
InDrive.com sold for $6,000 in 2013 at Afternic, it closed Monday at GoDaddy auctions for $1,913.
BuildingDoctor.com sold for $2,500 back in 2011 on Sedo, BuyDomains sold it today for $1,500. I think they sold it for someone because looking at whois it does not look like they were the registrant on the name.
Maxvita.com sold for $1,250 on Sedo in 2010 and closed at $590 on GoDaddy auctions on Monday.
Stock.Global was sold for $8,000 in 2018 and closed at Dynadot on Monday for $228.
NuclearCareers.com sold for $2,400 back in 2013 on Sedo and closed for $136 at GoDaddy auctions on Monday.
SENIORRETIREMENTSOLUTIONS.COM sold for $1,500 on Afternic in 2012 and closed at just $105 on GoDaddy auctions Monday.
Nappy.net third time around not so great, the name sold for $1,670 on Sedo in 2009 and then sold for $1,000 on Sedo in 2011 and closed at $190 at GoDaddy auctions on Monday.
A bunch of 6N.coms did not do as well the second time around, closed exactly one year ago for $900 to $1,350 and one year later closed for half or less.

There is hardly any benefit of acquiring domains in auction these days.
Prices are almost equal to what an end user would pay.
Like Nappy.net .. 7-8 years ago should be much higher
Your Flip?Flop posts are very interesting Raymond. Many thanks for posting.
