Ray Fassett of .med published a thought-provoking perspective comparing traditional search with emerging AI discovery. Here’s an excerpt:
“However, the emergence of large language models and AI-assisted search is changing how users access information. Instead of navigating through lists of links, users increasingly ask direct questions and receive synthesized responses generated from multiple sources. General-purpose domains (e.g. .com, .org) leave a structural gap in sector classification. In traditional search, this gap is addressed downstream. In AI-driven discovery, where interpretation occurs in layers, that gap moves upstream—and becomes materially important.”
