Darpan Munjal of Squadhelp tweeted out a graph that tested the correlation between domain length and STR.

Darpan pointed out this was purely an STR comparison. Also, this analysis may not be valid outside Brandable marketplaces. For example, most 4Ls do not include real words & it can be relatively harder to discover them via Search/Reg path or Type-in (compared to keyword rich domains).
When we look at all .com sales reported by Namebio monthly the numbers played out like this in August. I included how it compared to July.
4L 404 down from 489
5L 419 up from 407
6L 599 up from 577
7L 622 down from 691
8L 803 down from 821
9L 856 up from 845
10L 828 down from 833
I don’t think those Namebio numbers are really saying much. A lot of the namebio 4 l’s are going to be drop purchases and it doesn’t compare it to the the number of names for sale.
The brand bucket stats are very telling of enduser demand in my view. Shortness is the biggest factor in domain demand.
