Domain Investing Stats and Tips

Site.co sells for a second time, ForexLinks.com returns 6.5X

Second Time Around – Domain Name Sales May 15 2020

Domain names sales for May 15, 2020 that transacted for the second time around. Site.co sold for $5,000, $800 above it’s last sale a decade ago. ForexLinks.com was flipped for 6.5X.

Sometimes it’s as simple as the name expired and it’s not an end user buying but rather a domain investor. Sometimes it is a sale to another end user. Other times the name even though expired is a bit more trendy and trades at a higher price.

These second time around posts can be used in a variety of ways, sometimes it’s to see the burn down value of a name, what were investors willing to pay for a name an end user once valued so high?

Perhaps it’s to see a great flip, a name acquired on the cheap that was flipped for 10, 20, 100x.

I do like looking at names that were allowed to expire at GoDaddy and then the very next year also expire, how did sentiment change, when just about all the variables are the same.

For new investors it’s important to understand that many times these were drops. No domain investor benefited. GoDaddy, NameJet, DropCatch are the winners here. But as I said it gives a second snapshot in time at how people valued a particular domain name.

Hopefully you get something out of them even if it’s just to satisfy a curiosity.

Upswing

Site.co was sold for $4,200 back in 2010 and was resold on Sedo Friday for $5,000. This was a flip not a drop.

HighProfits.com was sold for $2,188 back in 2008 at Afternic, it closed Friday at GoDaddy auctions for $4,150. This was an expired domain GoDaddy is the winner here.

Chugg.com sold for $2,012 in 2018 at NameJet and closed on Friday at GoDaddy auctions for $3,125. This was expired GoDaddy is the winner here.

ForexLinks.com sold for $256 on GoDaddy auctions in 2017 and sold at Sedo on Friday for $1,623. Flip not a drop.

ZZAV.com sold at GoDaddy for $256 in 2017 and closed at $851 on NameJet on Friday.

NPPF.com Third time for this name, it sold for $150 in 2010 at NameJet and then it sold for $280 just last November, Friday it closed at $675 at NameJet. Small dollars of course but percentage wise a decent move up.

Down Swing

DesignGlobal.com sold for $2,588 in 2014 at Afternic, it closed at $710 on Friday at GoDaddy auctions.

PremierRooms.com sold for $2,051 in 2013 at Afternic, it closed Friday for $260 at GoDaddy auctions.

FWIK.com sold for $750 at GoDaddy auctions in 2018. It closed Friday at NameJet for $290.
