The thing about domain sales is they can come fast or they can come slow. The life of a domain investor can be rather lonely at times. Lately some people have been feeling the blues over a sales drought that seems to be lasting months. As Brad Mugford pointed out to this domain investor, it’s the nature of the business and things can come in spurts and then slow down.
One Namepros member just posted that they had two very big sales, both new gtlds. Not in the most popular new gtld extensions either.
Domain: New.Work
Price: $38,000 USD
Venue: Uniregistry (BIN)
Commission: $3,800Hand reg. this domain in 2016 + two renewals of $220
The buyer is: Big german software company with revenue more than 100 Million euros in 2018.
The buyer bought domain for the BIN price without any prior negotiations.——————————-
Domain: All.Life
Price: $25,000 USD
Venue: Afternic
Commission: $4000Got this domain on the first day of general availability in 2015 for $45, plus 3 renewals for $36
Received an automatic price request email from Afternic (the domain had a minimum bid price of $500),
later I got email from Afternic broker. I replied – $25,000 BIN.
The buyer paid the BIN price without any negotiations.
The buyer is: French multi billion dollar corporation, and one of the largest hotel chains in the world, number one in Europe.
This represents the third highest reported .work sale and the highest reported .life sale. Congrats to New.Life.
Those are some great prices.
The Congratulations should only go to the seller.
Now, as domain investors, these outlier sales should be carefully analysed, as to what it means to new domain investors. One of the devastating cycles that cripples noobs in the business, are these types of headlines.
The newgTLD registry operators were mostly domainers, and Registrars before they ventured into Registries; they know that domainers will likely renew, or register more newgtlds with any report of sales trends in its favor. I am not insinuating that such is the case here, but you never know, until thorough analyses is made.
The seller of these names reported that these sales occurred on March 1, 2019, over 7 months ago.
It should also be noted that he holds a portfolio of super expensive ‘premium’ newgtlds, that must have cost many thousands to register, and renew since the inception of the scheme, names such as:

So, this must be put in the proper perspective. It is strange that he would sell both names in one day, and stay away from Namepros since, no effort to do more sales, and yet not he, nor anybody else is seeing similar results after March 1, 2019.
I am not doubting the data, simply trying to determine what it portends.
I’d like to see what traffic those names/extensions are getting. Only .com and .org have proved to have any real numbers to warrant those sales figures.
man alive i suck at domaining when i see this news! doh
Why can’t I move Blockchain.link?
It’s not jackpot. It’s a answer of total 5 renewal. patience and good domain is the most important thing for every domainers.
If Google has their new way with search results, these type of domain names are not worth purchasing.
With Google’s new update (and for Chrome only for now) the search results only show the name and not the extension.
So the New.Work will only show the favicon, “New>15 greatest work…>breadcrumbs” and the title of the content which is now the focus. You don’t see or know that it is a .work domain name. This is a major game changer for SEO and for domain investors and website owners.
If you use the domain name such as Freelance.City and you are targeting the keyword “Freelance”, then it is possibly worth it if you can get ranked in Google.
