There were 135 lots in the NamesCon live auction. Of those 135 lots, 20 were new gtlds. 15 out of the 20 sold.
The top sale was Business.Loans at $10,000. Tax.help sold for $6,000 and Porn.Club sold for $5,000.
A lot of $300 and $500 sales that with a healthy commission probably add up to little profit. It makes one think if they should place their new gtld into auction. It’s great exposure and maybe you get a deal done later down the line. I own a couple that I thought about submitting but I did not see any .media names make the live auction so it didn’t matter anyway.
Web.cam was the best name of the bunch in my opinion, a perfect match between keyword and extension. Like Talk.show which Mike Berkens sold for $50,000.

No.

In my view if those names were owned by investors they would have taken large losses over the acquisition price.
Porn.club for 5k and basketball.club for $2,500. The market has dramatically changed. It is clear now that even the very best names are likely only in 4 figures. And Business.loans going for $10k? where does this leave the 500k buyer of home.loans? The name is maybe 2 or 3 times as good but not 50x as good.

These 2 WERE owned by an investor!
Porn.club for 5k and basketball.club for $2,500.
4 .of the .club names in the auction were owned by an investor.
Snoopy says
The registry claimed those 2 names were sold for $85,000 on payment plan a few months ago, so either the buyers is bailing or he is taking a massive loss on those two .club’s.
The tide is going out on the true value of names like this. The best ones are not worth much.

Some of these, if developed properly, look like they sold for a steal while others I wouldn’t even know how to / want to develop.
