It’s the three year anniversary of the launch of the first 7 new strings to be launched. .bike, .clothing, .guru, .holdings, .plumbing, .singles, and .ventures.
Some believe that all the new gtlds will affect the value and sales for .com. Will .com sales eventually only become 60% of the top 100 ? (I don’t think happens).
I wanted to take a look at how many sales of non .coms were able to make the top 100 sales of the year list. Source: DNJournal
Of course these are publicly reported sales, thousands of names are sold in private each year.
Here is a look at the last 5 years
2016 19 non .com sales made the top 100 (8 new gtlds)
Highest ranking 10
2015 9 non .com sales made the top 100 (4 new gtlds)
Highest ranking 23
2014 23 non .com sales made the top 100
Highest ranking 4
2013 18 non .com sales made the top 100
Highest ranking 13
2012 21 non .com sales made the top 100
Highest ranking 4
This good analysis shows, .com still going steady and strong.
