There has been a lot of talk here and on Namepros with regards to the Doron Vermaat portfolio sale on Namepros.
These 68 names are all published on BrandBucket, one name SchoolPanda.com was sold for $2,995. You can read all the discussion if you have some time here and here.
Some feel these auctions should not be allowed if the name is published, others feel BrandBucket is breaking their own TOS.
Here is a solution for BrandBucket they love making money on listing fees, so start your own seller’s forum and in that forum allow seller’s to run auctions or trade names back and forth.
Charge a one time fee of $20 to let people sell on the forum and let people go wild. Throw some ad dollars at Namepros since they created this opportunity for you.

Brilliant !
I think you got the solution, if I am BB I want the action on my own site. Hell they could hire you to run the forum Raymond.
That would alleviate all problems. Let’s see if they listen.
I honestly think they don’t like the fact that names are traded back and forth. When names are traded back and forth then they lose out on the $10 listing fee for all new names. If domainers are trading amongst themselves then they aren’t taking the time to find new domains to list and BB loses out. I don’t think they realized how large the aftermarket would become from BB listed names when they agreed it would be OK for members to do this.
I think you’re right, I think they opened the door and thought a few would walk through. Instead it’s a business model for many. Which if they are making money good on them.
What’s your opinion if they closed it ?
I think a lot of people would get upset and may due damage to their brand in the domainer community. Now they may not care about that, but those $10 listing fees will start to dry up.
I don’t think they like it but I also don’t think they will close it. It’s free marketing for them on Namepros. The BB name is constantly being listed in new posts and that generates not only new domainer interest but also keeps the veterans hooked.
Michael Krell has discussed a private slack channel in the past. They don’t like people trading accepted domains on NP it seems. The bigger issue is end users going and buying names they like for $40 instead or $1,500+ dollars. Makes sense.
I have no idea what the status is or if they will open a private forum. Imo it would be a good idea but I’d rather not pay. You should contact Michael Krell and Margot Bushnaq.
I don’t want to see them have a fee either Adam, I included that because they like fees with listings.
I don’t think they will do it, I just wanted to throw it out there. Like Todd said above they may have regrets about ever allowing the wholesale market come about.
Probably they wish people wouldn’t sell accepted or published domains. It would be a lot of trouble to disallow at this point though.
