Something you don’t normally hear in a negotiation – “Burn in Hell”

June 21, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

So I had a reader ask me my opinion on a recent back and forth they had with a potential buyer. I was not really sure where my opinion would factor in as this was about his deeply rooted political feelings. I did ask if I could share the back and forth here on the blog. I was asked to edit the domain out, which I have.

Buyer: Good day kind sir, I am interested in purchasing **********.com. Kindly forward a price.

Now in the signature line of this email read the words “Feel The Bern” indicating this prospect was a supporter of Bernie Sanders.

Not sure I would have went with this response, but I understand the passion and political divide.

Seller: I would never sell this domain to you, kind sir. You and your socialist God, make me sick… I would never sell this domain to you and will keep it forever.

May you and Bernie Sanders burn in hell ! So kindly GFY !

I guess they will have to hold the name forever or only sell to someone where they can identify the political leanings of the buyer.

So would you not sell a domain to someone based on their political affiliation ?

The seller is very immature and myopic, honestly speaking. Only a fool kill themselves over politicians, who are friends behind the scene.

He will take the name to his grave I guess.

I agree with Jidefor about seller being immature. Not a good move by him.

Disagree anyone standing up to socialists is a true hero. Us vs them and we will prevail.

That’s okay if you disagree. But why should I kill my business just because I don’t like any political party. The max I could do is ask for more money from the affiliated party which is I am against of.

    Very unprofessional.

Or the name was berniesanders.com or something similar and he will only sell it to opponents.

I can confirm it was not a political domain.

Bravo – Nice to see someone put something above money. Screw socialism and all those that support it.

If your money is green I care not who you support politically.

For someone that apparently hates socialists, the seller doesn’t sound like much of a capitalist to me.

WOW.. that is pretty naive approach. He might missed a potential buyer.

Look like the seller is Hillary die hard supporter. lol

As long as the payment goes through, I don’t care about their politics.

Now, if it’s a politically-based name, bets are off to avoid selling it to an opponent.

Tolerance? A good thing. Some people aren’t our clones.

Free speech? A good thing. That includes allowing our neighbors to vote for a candidate we oppose. Otherwise there can be no democratic elections.

Courtesy? A good thing. Or maybe we should just beat each other to death with baseball bats.

Prudence? A good thing. Business breaks down if the owner refuses to serve a large percentage of customers due to irrelevant details such as race or creed.

Not selling to someone you believe has an ideology that is unacceptable has nothing to do with courtesy. There should be no courtesy to socialists and communists.

Even people who think stupid things, Don, deserve courtesy. Yourself included.

Only person sounding stupid is you.
