I got an email from someone who asked me what he was doing wrong ? He asked if we could talk on the phone and I said sure. He explained that he wrote a blog on domaining but got no traffic, like zip. I asked him what kind of blog was he doing ? What did he write about, was he looking at news and curating the way The Domains does ? Was he sharing his personal business strategy like Shane Cultra, Elliot Silver and Morgan Linton ? Did he have success and history in the business like Rick Schwartz ? Why was he blogging ?
He said that he tried to focus on what was selling and look at what the daily domaining news was each day. I asked him if his time needed to make him money ? The thing that really is forgotten in this business or sometimes overlooked is that for the most part a lot of people don't know what one another do to make a living. Some people blog and the blog is a hobby and if they don't post for months its no big deal. For others its a livelihood or at least a nice chunk of change each month. Someone may represent one lifestyle but is living a completely different one.
He said he was not rich and yes his time needed to make him some money but that he did have a full time job which he would never leave for domaining. I told him he needs to email Francois and pay to be on Domaining.com. He should also contact Abdu at Domainsville and that was free.
He then asked me for guarantees of traffic, I told him that nothing can be guaranteed but that for a new blogger Domaining.com certainly is a worthwhile investment.
Before anyone gets nuts, this is not a paid post, Francois has never advertised on this blog or any site I own. I just believe for a guy that wants to blog and is frustrated by no traffic, Domaining.com opens the door. There are certainly other ways to market your blog but with Domaining.com he will get a jump start to get him going in the right direction.
I did tell him I was writing this post, he did ask for his name to not be included and that will be respected.
Jason Thompson in his interview series asks, "What would you tell someone thinking about starting a domain blog ?" If you are going to start one I think its worth the investment in Domaining.com.

Interesting case study. FYI personally I ONLY use domaining.com as my entrance to all domain blogs I read.
Thanks Bruce
I would say I would never have heard of the following without domaining.com and their website,

A major sticking point is that Domaining.com charges new blogs to be included in their feed (I believe $500?). As a matter of principle, I don’t think aggregator sites like domaining.com should be charging new bloggers to include their feed. (after all, domaining.com is using bloggers content on their site for free).
That’s why I’m a fan of Domainsville.com (free inclusion of your blog in their feed).
The traffic from Domaining.com compared to Domainsville is not even close, you are being charged because its called advertising.
Let’s be honest I get Google, I don’t need to read most of what domain blogs write everyday.
