I was up checking stuff on Godaddy and went to Godaddy auctions. Checking on the closeouts a name popped up that was somewhat interesting.
CustomKeychains.us. Godaddy said the name has 204 hits per month, regged for eight years and they placed their value at $111 and the name was for sale for $11.
I went to the Google keyword tool and checked out the stats, 1900 exact searches in the US not bad, not great but not bad. The CPC was $3.90 though, pretty good. Doing a search on Google showed a lot of advertisers for the keyword.
So I sit and think for a minute and then figure what the heck and the name was taken. I thought its 4 am eastern and a .us so probably ok to wait a minute, but someone got the name. Best of luck to them and I hope they make some money.
You probably did well by waiting….that was your gut telling you not to buy.
Just b/c someone else bought does not mean this was a good domain, but then again it’s all relative.
For me though, I don’t think it is a good domain.
Thanks for the comment Kim, you may be right, I own 0 .us but I did see the company was around for a long time and the domain regged for eight years. If the traffic real 200 a month, it could make $5 to $10 parked with good CPC but who knows.
I wouldn’t take it if you paid me $11.
I think if one likes the .us extension a product name is not bad. I am surprised how high the CPC is on custom keychains. Someone should be able to make some money on it if they don’t subscribe to the .com only philosophy. Its obvious the commenter above is one of these types.
@Stian if you could not make $11 a month off the name with the provided metrics, you really should not be in domaining.
