Over the years I have spent a lot of time covering and writing about .tv. The last few years .tv sales have languished. From .io and .ai becoming the cool kids on the block, it seems there has been a lack of .tv sales and news.
If you look at the last 18 months, there are more reported .ai domain name sales at Namebio then all the .tv sales Namebio has ever reported.
Well today someone posted a nice .tv sale. Beacon.tv was acquired for $180 a decade ago at GoDaddy auctions. That buyer must have sold to the seller because they mentioned a 4 year hold time. They sold it for $19,999 the highest reported .tv domain sale since January of 2023.

Congrats to the seller. I wonder if the slump in .tv sales has to do with GoDaddy taking over the registry – about 18 months ago – and now pricing registrations and renewals of .tv domains for about twice the cost as many other registrars.
I also had an experience where I bought a premium .tv from the registry for $800 about two years ago, which was supposed to have a standard renewal fee because Verisign had completely abandoned the premium-renewal-fee model, if I’m not mistaken, and when the domain came up for renewal a few months after GoDaddy took over I had to pay $110 to renew it, as I again had to recently. I wrote GoDaddy about this twice at their registry email address but they haven’t responded.
