iWork.ai was acquired by Apple. The domain name was left to expire and it Apple picked the name up for reg fee it looks like. This is being covered in plenty of publications like AppleInsider.com and 9to5Mac.com.
BuyAiDomains.com was the first to publish the news.
Some are speculating that Apple will be relaunching their iwork suite of tools. William Gallagher at AppleInsider.com noted,
Apple tends to refer to its Pages, Numbers, and Keynote applications by those individual names, but it occasionally still refers to them collectively as iWork. It comes from when Apple sold the three in a boxed set, alongside the iLife collection which had iMovie, GarageBand and so on.
It will be interesting to see what they do with the domain name. Whoever let the domain name expire is probably a bit miffed.
