Elon Musk says Tweets should be called X’s not xeets

Unless you have been on a darkness retreat you no doubt know that Twitter is being rebranded to X. With the new brand many have pondered what will come of the old terminology? Things like Tweet and Retweet for example.

Deadline wrote:

Asked by one user what tweets should be called now, Musk said, “x’s.”

Asked what retweets should be called, he responded, “that whole concept should be rethought.”

Xeet and Xeets started being bandied about earlier today with a fake Twitter help center post about xeet becoming part of the lexicon. This in turn got domain investors registering xeet and xeets related domain names.

A post on Twitter that falsely claims Tweets are now referred to as “Xeet”, after the brand’s rebranding to X, isn’t real, and the fake Help Center with the supposed “How to Xeet” blog doesn’t exist.

Many are under the assumption Tweets are now called “Xeets” after coming across Twitter user Brett Dashevsky’s post captioned, “A ‘Tweet’ is now officially referred to as a “Xeet” according to X’s new help center page.”

But, X’s team has debunked the above claim as “incorrect”, with a clarification post that “Twitter’s Help Center still reads ‘How To Tweet.’”

What are the Tweets called now?

Elon reportedly confirmed Tweets will be called “x’s” going forward according to CNBC. However, when asked what would the retweets or in this case, reshared x’s will be called, he apparently said: “concept should be rethought.”

The Tesla owner made the big announcement on Monday and also shared a photo of the new logo projected on the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.
