Do you still see domaining as a good side hustle?
I was having a talk with another domain investor who is starting another non domain name related project.
He mentioned he wanted to transition away from domaining as it just didn’t do it for him anymore. Auction prices too high, end user interest too low.
My thoughts were that domaining is still a good side hustle if you truly understand the business. You need to be organized and have the time to stay up on trends and find ways to automate or get someone to help you with small virtual tasks.
What was funny about our conversation he was talking about a conversation he had with someone else we both know in the business. This person has a pretty busy job so he does not keep up on everything. During our conversation he told me it’s obvious our mutual acquaintance was out of the loop when in a text he asked him about CHIPS. I would say that’s way out of the loop.
So what are your thoughts? Do you still feel like domaining is a viable side hustle?

Yes. But you do need to stay up to date on trends. List domains for sale at the right price and on the right platforms.

It’s as good of a side-hustle as it is a full-time job. Making a good income per year is certainly feasible if you know what you are doing and you apply yourself to it daily. I did it as a side-hustle for a decade until going full-time during the pandemic. 2022 was my best year yet. Looking forward to a great, but surely challenging, 2023.

it’s a good side hustle if you know the industry and put in the time
but it takes time to learn the ins/outs and you need to have above average negotiating skills
2022 hasn’t been my best year, but it’s been pretty good…actually, jan 2022 was my best january since i started domaining in 2004

It was a luxury to have learned about this industry in 2008, learning and working full time until 2012.
Then part time until now, working for another R&D company.
Three months ago I was hospitalized and the disease made me reconsider whether or not to continue:
Leave R&D, and continue domains with less hustle

Yes it is .Just because it isn’t working as he expected doesn’t mean its the same for so many other investors.
I have turned down so many offers this year compared to all the years since I have been in the business. It is easy to know when to say “No”.When you need some cashflow, you simply accept the old offers that are close to asking price
Always have a backup if you are going in full time but it is worth it compared to a full time job.
Also those who sell too cheap and don’t have enough csshlfow when sales are dry, will always complain .So the wise investors won’t complain much because they sold high. .
