No one has written more about the .tv extension that I have. For many years it was a daily unpaid job running the Dot TV sub forum at Namepros. It was quite the community back in the day before Namepros went through several changes. I remember when Demand Media came in to shake up .tv. It was back in December 2006, Verisign announced an alliance with Demand Media.
It was met with a lot of excitement within the DotTV sub forum. Demand Media acquired Me.tv from JohnTV under NDA. They created Channel Me as a way to market the extension.
Things kinds of fizzled out over time. Back then many people hoped the biggest registrar on the planet would take over. It took years but GoDaddy is now running the .tv registry.
The company that once warned people not to register .tv domain names almost a year ago was chosen by Ministry of Justice, Communication and Foreign Affairs of the Tuvalu Government.
Now they will be starting a marketing campaign for the extension. We will see if they can give .tv a much needed boost.
