ALPHARETTA, Ga.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ciox Health, a leading health technology company, today announced its acquisition of San Francisco-based biomedical Natural Language Processing (biomed-NLP) technology company, Medal, Inc., a leader in the application of AI techniques to the interrogation of unstructured medical record data. The acquisition accelerates capabilities to enable real-world data (RWD) in support of research that advances patient care.
The domain name was left to expire and caught at DropCatch. Today the auction ended at $185,728. We had the auction games in full effect. DropCatch only requires you to increase your bid $50 even at $150,000. So one bidder just waited til 30 seconds left and $50 up but the lead bidder was there to match and extend every time. After awhile the runner up did try moving up some crazy odd numbers and even a couple thousand once or twice but the winner stayed the course.
Medal is registered in 111 extensions according to dotDB.com. I thought it would be registered in more extensions to be honest.

The runner up was wasting his/her time bidding against a proxy the entire time.
It sounds like the 2nd bidder would have defaulted if they had won the auction. Congrats to the winner. VERY nice name.
In the beginning of this auction we thought that Medal.com would be purchased for an awarding website (just like Awwwards, WebbyAwards or StevieAwards) however now it seems this domain will serve to something completely different then listing laureates of a digital competition, or producing tailor made medals.
