Vey.com was registered back in 1997, it looks like a German registrant sold the domain name for $4,000 in 2007 at Sedo. Checking out the whois history it looks like the domain name traveled the world and might have been sold again as one entry shows Escrow.com in the whois records.
Whoever took ownership of the name let the domain name expire and it was caught by DropCatch.
The auction closed today at $48,250. According to DotDB.com vey is registered in just 50 extensions.
