When Facebook decided to change their corporate name to Meta and start the pr machine, one wondered if others using Meta as their name might change their name to stand out.
It looks like Meta.co.uk has decided to do just that. They are now Herd.io.
The company describes themselves as,
“We design, build and optimise beautiful eCommerce solutions with unrivalled performance to help your business grow”.
From their blog post:
Grab a cuppa, because have we got a story for you!
After nearly 10 years as Meta, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re evolving to Herd.
Our exciting rebrand comes at a time when it’s more important than ever to stand out from the crowd – moving away from an old name that could get confused with a certain social media giant’s new virtual universe.
But it’s about more than just that elephant in the room. Over the course of the pandemic, we have accelerated our growth, welcoming six new faces to the team and a raft of new partners. As a team, we felt the time was right for a change.
Best of luck to them with the new name.
The other question is will they receive a big payday?
Mad About Domains posted back in December about Meta.uk being sold to Facebook.
It has been reported that the domain meta.uk has changed hands (Changed from tag GOOSEBERRY to LOVELLSLLP). Hogan Lovells work on behalf of Facebook to acquire domain names, including bulletin.com in the not so distant past and many ‘meta’ domains.
The domain was owned by the prolific investor in the .UK domain space Michael Toth. He confirmed as much online but is keeping his cards close to his chest by the looks of things:
Smart move on the company’s part. Thanks for posting.

So they decided to go with Herd?
Maybe they should have consulted a dictionary
Herd is so bad i have a very slight feeling of wanting to puke. You know that acid electric sensation like you just stuck your tongue on a square battery. It’s really there.
Still, nice of them to prepare the mind for some yarn-spinning in their opening remark.
“Grab a cuppa, because have we got a story for you!”
Subconsciously creating a canvas to fib within without really fibbing.
