10 of the top 20 .xyz sales of 2021 have a live website – A look at the buyers

.xyz domain name sales

In this post I take a look at the top 20 .xyz sales in 2021. Some have engaged in a disinformation campaign that says all these sales are bogus or they just show a DAN sold page. That really is a lazy approach.

You do not have to like or even respect an extension, but at least get your facts straight.

There was a flood of sales in the last month of the year for the highest selling .xyz domain names.

7 of the top 20 of 2021 took place in December.

10 of the top 20 have websites up of some kind.

#18 Ante.xyz sold for $19,888. The buyer is Ante Finance. They went with Ante.xyz over AnteFinance.com which is listed for sale at UNI Aftermarket. The webpage that is up is a Discord invite page.

#15 Genesis.xyz sold for $21,399. The landing page states you are early and asks you to enter your ETH address. The company states it’s Your portal to Web3.

#14 Siren.xyz sold for $22,310. SIREN is a flexible, decentralized protocol for sophisticated investors to trade cryptocurrency options. As an options trader I am actually interested in this project.

#13 Beacon.xyz sold for $24,888. The buyer was Beacon Ventures, a community-focused crypto fund. Nothing else on the landing page.

#12 Spiral.xyz sold for $24,888. They were previously known as Square Crypto. They rebranded to Spiral and chose .xyz. “We build and fund free, open-source projects aimed at making bitcoin the planet’s preferred currency.”

#11 Arcade.xyz sold for $25,500. The site is about NFTs and liquidity. Arcade is the premier platform to use the Pawn Protocol. Arcade provides an intuitive and easy-to-use platform to interact with Pawn Protocol smart contracts.

Arcade is the first of its kind platform to enable liquid lending markets for NFTs. At Arcade, we think all assets will eventually become digitized and that NFTs represent a 0 to 1 innovation in storing value and ownership attribution for unique digital assets.

#10 Flip.xyz sold for $27,888. I wrote about the buyer a few months ago but it looks like they pivoted to focusing on NFTs. Back in September their website stated,

We expose actionable market intelligence to everyone, for free. We’re committed to creating clear, useful, opinionated views of market information.

Flip is your guide in navigating Defi markets.

Now the focus is on NFT.

Hello, we’re Flip. We are building free tools for artists and collectors to make the most of their NFTs across all chains and marketplaces.

We’ll be launching our beta and mobile apps in early 2022. In the meantime you can claim your Flip username which will become your home for all things non-fungible.

#9 Agora.xyz sold for $27,888. We aggregate and build tools to give your existing tokens extra utility. These permissionless and independent tools are collectively governed by the Agora Space DAO.

#7 Squid.xyz sold for $34,888. The Squid DAO.

On October 20, 2021, an anonymous group of DeFi veterans came together to launch Squid DAO. These anons believed they could leverage the economic successes popularized by the Olympus and the fundraising mechanisms introduced by Nouns DAOs to create an economic flywheel backed by ETH. Thus, the SQUID was born.

#5 Stir.xyz sold for $39,888. The buyer operates on UseStir.com. Stir.xyz redirects to the newsroom page. Newsroom gives your Discord communities a better way to be organized and stay up-to-date so you can collaborate and work stronger together. Welcome to multiplayer creativity.

We created Stir to meet your unique needs as a creator, and to help you enhance and grow your business. Stir takes all the innovative ways you make money — like YouTube and Shopify and Patreon and Twitch and Instagram and Facebook and Brand Deals and Anchor — and puts them all in one place.

All ten of these names were sold by Swetha.

    excellent
i like to see domains acquired by end-users and put to use

i didn’t invest in .xyz and thought the extension was perfect for alphabet.xyz, but it seems to have caught on with the blockchain, dao, crypto entrepreneurs/crowd

i still prefer .io and .com for that niche, but i’m biased 🙂

we should applaud the success of all domain investors, as this is a time-consuming endeavor that requires good timing, luck and stellar negotiating skills

indeed one word .com names regged in the 1990s are easy to get offers, but more challenging to get the desired ask…and this requires finesse, persistance and “right timing” ( I wonder how many offers the professor who owned crypto.com since 1995 received prior to the crypto boom – i’m sure many, but not on the level after 2013)

This is great news for the .xyz investors. I have a couple dozen including some first names such as Selena & Kanye and am now finally starting to get some activity.

    Yes and Yes !

Swetha, excellent averages in the examples given.

The only thing I would add to these observations is Listening skills.

Client and Market innovation is reshaping the entire industry. Listen

Happy New Year to the next great Boom !

    Cheers
