After highlighting MetaXR.com for $60,000 yesterday, here comes Metapayments.co at $53,450. The domain name sold at DAN. The domain name was registered on October 7, 2021. WHAT???
This is getting to be crazy with these names, an incredible sale that really defies logic.
Metapayments.com was registered in 2011.
If this is real then it’s one of the greatest sales of all time.
I know Dan is legit, so this is real. I cannot understand how someone paid this for a week old registration. I am quitting domaining I just don’t get it anymore.
This is more a function of how much value is being placed on the ‘Payments’ space than it is on the ‘Metaverse’ space.
But this is a very noteworthy sale, given the timeframe of the sale and the pretty bad extension.
I agree to a certain degree Gene, I keep Pay in the monthly keyword trends report. But I think this was as much about Meta.

Which is better meta or metaverse?
Good question. My two cents is that the whole phrase is better than the prefix for most names, simply because (at this point in time) I haven’t read any articles that refer to the technology/movement as simply, “Meta.”
This weekend’s feature WSJ article is titled, “HE AMAZING THINGS YOU’LL DO IN THE ‘METAVERSE’ AND WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO GET THERE”

So not a great purchase… I would consider something like metawebpay.com instead.
