So Squadhelp did a post on why people got into domain investing. They actually asked the question on Twitter.
Tell us why you became a domain investor in 10 words or less?
Some of the answers included:
“a domain like an idea can change the world”
“Because I wanted to be my own boss.”
“Recognition that the best dreams often start with a name.”
You can read the other half dozen on Squadhelp.
I thought this was a cool topic so for those reading leave a comment here why you got into domaining.
I thought it would be easy money. (It has not been)

To continue my journey as a cunning linguist.
23 years ago, this month, the concept of words and phrases as addresses on the internet (like phone numbers), just made total sense to me. Still at it!
the first domain i registered in 2000 as a name for my startup initiated inquiry from a broker wishing to acquire it on behalf of a fortune 20 company…
they ended up buying the name and technology after 2 tense months of negotiations…
and i love names and words
i’ve yet to equal the big windfall of 2001…even though i’ve sold hundreds of domains (most acquired inbound by endusers)
domain investing is not an easy endeavor
Like Rick Schwartz said in an interview. You can realize a dream and develop your own company.
Back around 2000-2002, a company bought a web site I had developed for a project with my young kids. $2.5K and it was the first time I had come to think of domains as assets rather than just a path to fulfill my own creativity. That was a light bulb moment for me, even though it was probably intuitively obvious to everyone else.
I can be a billionaire and everything on the internet is so truth!!
