So Lox over at Namepros started a thread about lnvitation.com (that a lower case L not a capital i)
The name closed at $20,156. Members were a bit miffed and wondered why there was no upper and lower case designation at Dynadot. Some wondered if the auction got paid for? I asked Dynadot who in my opinion applied the wrong language.
They replied to me:
We don’t disclose any private customer information, including sale information, without the customer’s consent or unless required by law, regardless of the circumstances.
If you would like more information on whether the auction winner completed the purchase the current registrant would be the best point of contact. Currently, the domain is using our privacy service, so you could contact the current registrant by emailing email@example.com and including the domain name in the subject of your email. That will then be forwarded directly to the current registrant.
To which I replied:
You continue to miss the point, hiding behind language that doesn’t fit here. We all know what lnvitation.com sold for, if I was asking you Hey Dynadot what did lnvitation.com sell for and it was a private transaction, then sure you not giving out personal information makes complete sense.
In this case someone was compelled to start a thread because they could not believe someone got duped for a misspelling due to there being no upper and lower case designation.
To add to this nonsense it’s now on auction on your site with no upper and lower case designation. https://www.dynadot.com/market/user-auction/lnvitation.com
In another post they did say they would be updating their system.
Our team has confirmed that we’ll be updating our marketplace and auction listings to show domain names in both lowercase and uppercase to minimize the risk of any misunderstandings in the future, thank you everyone for your feedback on this matter.
All marketplaces must make sure this is enabled. If the customer did pay (I don’t know if they paid for the domain name) they have to be very angry. If they did pay and are doing the same thing with no notes about the L on the auction at Dynadot, that’s not a good look either.
