March continues to ring in the .io domain name sales. Tuesday saw the second highest reported sale of all time as Meta.io sold for $100,000. Once owned by a French registrant who let it drop and then of course Mike Carson was there to snag it back in 2017.
Congratulations to Mike who is just ringing the register every other day it seems. Something about meta and .io as Metaverse.io became the highest reported .io sale earlier this month.
Site is up on the name, the buyer is Meta Network
What is Meta?
Prefunded projects
Creators can raise money via a token to create something (e.g., write an essay) and then the holders of that token will accrue value for early support of the project.
Programmable revenues
When a creator makes something, they can generate value across the lifetime of that object from such as art resales or song streams.
Access
Many communities today are freely available to the masses. Tokenization can enable unique access requirements which incentivize communities and users to pay for access and participate more actively.
