Domain News and Views
One thing I see over and over for years, is the belief by some that everyone tunes in to where they tune in.
I remember one time someone asking me why Michael Berkens did not reply to a post about someone questioning a sale of his on Namepros? I told him very clearly, Mike does not read forums, you think he does, he doesn’t.
As he told me “I am not a forum guy.” I replied for him, let him know what was being said and then it got to a point where he told me thank you for the effort, but I really don’t care I got the money, I know the name sold.
It happened with the Adam Dicker thread on Namepros, there was a call out of where are all these voices. Some of the people being called out didn’t even have a Namepros account.
I am everywhere, it’s part of my business. But many are only Namepros, I have had people tell me they never heard of Andew Allemann, How is that possible? They never read DNW or any other blog.
There are many who are tribal to Namepros, Namepros vs the world. Don’t mess with the Namepros Nancies. There are others who despise Namepros. Andrew Rosener famously said
Some live on social media, they don’t do forums or blogs. While we have others who hate social media and mock Facebook and Twitter. And like one reader emailed me, “You will never see me on Clubhouse, what a crock of shit!!!!!”
So when you are looking for a reply or statement it needs to be in a lot of outlets, because if you just focus on one, there is a good chance that the person does not like or visit your outlet of choice.
So where do you get your domain news and views?

We were displeased with namepros at the censorship, how many topics were being locked, and how many posts were being deleted so a bunch of Canadian members banded together and launched our own platform called dn.ca
More people need to actually put their domains to use and provide alternate sources of news and information.
I mean, can we call ourselves a domainer if we don’t put a couple of our domains to use?
How can we tell other people they need a domain name when we do not follow the same rule?
Don’t like a website… launch your own, it is easy enough to do.

All other “fact-checkers” are garbage.
Like appraisal section Namepros seeking validation for their names.
Worst is: Snopes mediabiasfactcheck and Factcheck.org. Most “fact-checkers” are leftist propaganda, especially Facebook’s

I read many blogs, follow a few on Twitter and check in at Namepros once or twice a week.

It’s funny the dweebs on namepros think big hitters like Rick or Brandon are reading namepros. They sure as hell are not replying.

I would always advocate using a Canadian registrar’s services when domaining in Canada or registering .CA domains, over using similar services from an international provider.
One reason for this is jurisdiction. Having your provider operate within the same legal framework as your own business makes sense and will generally ensure that issues similar to the ones described in this post are avoided or at least easier to respond to, should they occur.
From what I know (and this is without having consulted our legal team, and without myself being a lawyer), WHC will respond to court orders that are valid in Canada, or requests from registries that follow their Domain Resolution Process (UDRP for ICANN or CDRP for CIRA; which I invite any serious domainer to familiarize themselves with).
We have and will continue to turn down requests that do not follow due process or have not been approved by a Canadian court (or the bodies designated for this by each registry), and conversely we’ll also act diligently to collaborate with law enforcement when their requests are backed by a valid court order.
