$10,000 domain name sale for a handreg with no favorable metrics

November 27, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

Handreg domain name sold for $10,000

A long time member of Namepros and someone who I interacted with frequently in the .tv sub forum, Fleaking, announced a $10,000 sale.

For $10,000 USD via Sedo, so happy with it because it is the longest domain(18 characters) and also a highest hand-regged name that I’ve ever sold, most importantly… it has 0 other TLDs taken and almost no similar registered domains exist.

I hand regged this domain name back in 2012 when I quitted my pharmacist job from a hospital and kept renewing it for 8 years till this year

Very happy for Fleaking and it also highlights something that @biggie referenced:

Congrats on the sale!

also glad you pointed out that note about length, 0 tlds taken and low number of similar names registered.

as it contradicts many of the notions about what is an important metric of/in acquisitions, that gets spread back and forth among some domainers.

Metrics do matter in my opinion, they help cull through all the domains you register and research in the aftermarket. However they are not an absolute, and should not be adhered to in a rigid fashion.

If I had to venture a guess, this Biggie character is stacked with 3 word long tail .coms?

‘Some domainers’ will stick to reality – and that is the wider ‘metrics’ matter. Short domains sell more, by a huge margin.

He literally says this single sale is contradicting a ‘notion’. No. It doesn’t. Common sense tells us some outliers happen.

So much trash stuffed in so few words. ‘Some domainers’, LOL – yea the ones that stick to ummm, facts?

    Congratulations!!!
Did the name have an NDA?
If it didn’t why no share the name, if will show in the Sedo report
