Domain Investing Stats and Tips

Popular typo of Qantas airlines over $3,800 at GoDaddy Auctions

December 16, 2019 by Raymond Hackney

Qantas

Australian airline Qantas is the third oldest airline in the world and registered Qantas.com in May of 1996.

Many consumers spell Qantas wrong and a lot add the letter u to make it Quantas.com. In November of 1999 Quantas.com was registered and in 2004 there is a whois record for a Quantas Associates Inc, a Nevada corp doing business in California as Quantas.com.

Archive.org shows that for the last 18 years the domain name has been forwarding to various Qantas airline websites.

Qantas has close to 400 domain names and they are all registered at CSC. Quantus.com is now closing tomorrow at GoDaddy where it’s registered. Since I don’t believe the domain is controlled by the airline, there is not much they can do except win the auction.

GoDaddy values the domain at $19,213 while Estibot values the domain at $150,201.

The auction price is currently at $3,850.
