Namepros members calling a sale BS vindicated

April 24, 2018 by Raymond Hackney

There was one hell of a debate going on today with a sale reported on Namepros.  It all started with

 $30,000 Sold ***IOT.COM (9 letters)

Members like AbdulBasit.com, Karmaco, Golan, Michael M and myself making the point that incomplete data in the thread is basically worthless.

Others basically told people they were jealous, get lost, ignore the thread.

Well it turns out after keeping the heat on, that the sale was a prank.

But does a new investor know that who might be interested in the niche. It was IOT niche.

There was even a screenshot:

This issue must be fixed like Frank said. We altogether have to get that OP out of NP at first and lastly we should suggest NP administration to make sure one has to share the complete detail of domain sale, else don’t bother posting and wasting our quality time.

Jerry, calling the kettle black? Your comment is trolling. More domainers are on namepros than anywhere else which means it’s the most representative of domaining that we have. Saying “namepros is crap” is the same as saying you or your fellow domainers are crap. Get with it and don’t insult yourself or your competitors. You don’t need to talk trash about other domain investors to succeed in this business.

        Actually you are both right.

Jerry is spot on, there are terrible trolls on namepros but there are also some of the more knowledgeable domainers anywhere. The fact that namepros has so many members makes it inevitable that there will be some trolls, like the one that opened the above topic. As is the case with everything the few bad apples are the ones that get the most attention. The good part of it though is they have this handy little ignore button. Ignore the trolls and learn from other members. It’s a great place to be when you need help from fellow domainers…..

        Have a great day!

I personally love namepros as its an open platform for anyone to share their knowledge and thoughts. imo people that fake sales do it for different reasons. You should be able to look at a domain name and give it a value independently (liquid domains excluded). If your dependent on what others say and have no clue otherwise then maybe this business is not for you, at least the finding value in a domain where the seller doesn’t see it aspect of the business. Domainers are arbitragers. Dreams will be made on how you use the competitive edge a domain can give you and capitalize on it.
So if people lie about domain name sales it doesn’t affect me cause i see its value independently of what it sold for. btw domains are sold repeatedly so don’t get stuck on the bottom rung and step up:)

P.s when new gtlds lie or report and promote rare sales it has more ill effects because….Sorry to cut this short i have to go now.

    Love your blog
