Domain Investing Stats and Tips

So let me get this straight…

June 29, 2017 by Raymond Hackney

So as I wrote about on TheDomains.com, GoDaddy removed an auction listing for RapeKids.com. A despicable name that can’t be spun as some try to do both legitimately and not legitimately with other controversial or crude domains.

The domain name is also on sale for $95 at Sedo. To be fair the news that came out on this domain name did not happen during business hours, so Sedo should be allotted time for making a decision when they open.

But the thing I found interesting is they have systems in place, so one has to wonder how this despicable domain name got in and I can’t list a name like Deuces.net.

Here is what I get when trying to list Deuces.net on Sedo.

So RapeKids.com ok, Deuces.net not ok?

There might be a need to go over the systems in place and upgrade the AI and the automation.

    Hi there,

we’ve removed the domain. Thanks for notifying us. I’ll check out what’s up with “deuces”. We can’t block all combinations automatically, there is always a chance some names slip through.

Thats’ why were thankful for the hint. Also, see our Offensive Domain Policy https://sedo.com/us/about-us/policies/offensive-domain-policy/

Thanks again, and we’ll get back to you.

I think you hit the nail on the head suggesting an AI /Automation update.

A sample AI could include some type of vulgarity db built in. Something that could detect the words when combined that make up something that warrants a red flag such as what happens when combing Wet + Back (two very harmless words that when combined can raise concern. OnlineSlangDictionary.com has a “How vulgar is this slang” feature powered by user votes. Deuces rated 28% vulgar (341 votes) Rape rated 73% vulgar (69 votes)

I mentioned Facebook not allowing the registration of username @edamame citing it contained words not allowed on FB. OnlineSlangDictionary doesn’t recognize edamame as slang.(link with screenshot: https://www.namepros.com/threads/brandbucket-experience.793278/page-309#post-6221192)

Interesting to allow one and not the other.
