BrandBucket.org launches and files for TM

December 12, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

A Norwegian man has filed a trademark application for brandbucket. The applicant has registered the domain name brandbucket.org.

From Trademarkia:

Status Update! On Saturday, December 3, 2016, status on the BRANDBUCKET trademark changed to NEW APPLICATION FILED.

On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for BRANDBUCKET by Ruben Botn-Jørgensen, Kolbotn 1410. The USPTO has given the BRANDBUCKET trademark serial number of 87250042. The current federal status of this trademark filing is NEW APPLICATION FILED. The correspondent listed for BRANDBUCKET is RUBEN BOTN-JØRGENSEN of EDVARD GRIGSVEI 5, KOLBOTN, 1410 NORWAY . The BRANDBUCKET trademark is filed in the category of Advertising, Business & Retail Services . The description provided to the USPTO for BRANDBUCKET is Brand development and evaluation services in the field of trade names and domain names.

I am sure Margot Bushnaq is not going to be pleased.

Tip of the hat to Ruben Couto who found the tm filing

    Building a brand in the shadow of an established website is an uphill battle. Even setting aside possible legal costs, the risk of losing the domain in a UDRP, and the chance of having wasted trademark fees.

    Not the best idea.

    ha, wow this is insane, the site is actually a decently designed site, although practically a mirror image of BB

    Why not just do like brand(literally anything else).com and have a solid looking brandable marketplace consumers can differentiate?

    UDRP and trademark lawsuit in 3…2…

    @Oren,

    Damn! I hadn’t looked at the website itself.

    Obviously acting in bad faith. He’ll lose the UDRP. At this point, he ought to apologize to BrandBucket, hand over the domain, cancel his trademark, and pray for mercy.

    @Joseph Peterson. Brand Bucket’s trademark was cancelled back on June 3, 2016. They’ll have to explain why if they plan to sue. Rights are strongest with a Federal Trademark in place.

    BrandBucket.org is now BrandBucket.shop and has a legit U.S. Trademark registration that just passed on October 3, 2017. How the hell did BrandBucket.com let this happen?

    It looks like BrandBucket.com has filed again for a Trademark in January 2017, but how is that going to pass now? Looks like they had an original registration from 2009 that was cancelled last year on June 3rd. This is crazy!

      Yeah I saw it the day after it got approved, very crazy, been working on an article but was waiting for someone to get back to me on one part. It’s crazy for sure.
