Flippa’s $1 reserve auction is not going forward

October 28, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

Flippa will not be proceeding with their $1 reserve auction

An update was given by Kevin Fink in a comment here on TLDinvestors.com.

We are not proceeding with this $1 Reserve “Showcase” Auction. We did not receive the inventory needed to conduct a worthwhile auction for our sellers. This was understandable, given the considerable risk in launching with a $1 reserve.

We will have an announcement in our blog and newsletter this coming Monday that will highlight a revised Showcase auction we will be running.

In short: it will be a No Reserve auction, which means you can submit your domains at the minimum price you will wish to retain (after 15% commission), and the first bid guarantees a sale. You do not need to submit with a $1 Reserve, though those submissions are welcome. For example, if you have an LLL .com and are looking for $30,000, you can submit that domain with a $30,000 reserve – and if it gets a bid, it is guaranteed to sell. All submissions are subject to approval.

Flippa will offer a pre-bidding process to gather buyer intent as well as to vet all interested buyers. More information to follow…

I’ve been through Flippa auctions are unreliable changes are not met what they advertise.

A few months ago Kevin read a post that the system Make Offer not only be used more Buy in Now.

In Flippa change is overwhelming encounter that Buy in Now not let do if not put a price or amount of $ 1 with Reserve with Flippa works well only auction has no reserve at the end of the last bid and think higher than the precende bid must to win the domain name.

Godaddy has Buy Now without reservation and in auctions 7 days may be without reserve or reserve, Flippa is not Goddady many long difference.

I think Flippa would benefit from a Make Offer option. This revolutionised ebay many years ago.

@Howie, the seasons pass, the best of this month October was the words and phrases that say Rick Schwartz in The domains 2106/10/04, we are not past we live in the present and if not, go back and innovate this market that is going to hell.

      Hey Kevin,

Do you guys have an estimate on the deadline for the submissions and for the auction start date?

      Thanks,
      David

Hi David – Keep the submissions coming. We’ll have the schedule locked down within a week I hope.

Just an update – this has been pushed back to 2017. We’re of course broadcast details when it’s all setup.
