Possibly The Most Chatted about auction ever on Namepros closes at $3,600

August 12, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

There really has never been an auction on Namepros that has been chatted about as much as the 68 domain BrandBucket portfolio of Doron Vermaat.

The auction perked up and brought attention to the rules at Namepros when Doron sold SchoolPanda.com for $2,995 on BrandBucket while the auction was running.

The auction closed at $3,600 and was won by a member that joined Namepros on August 4.

Hopefully the transaction closes and both parties are happy with the deal.

Too bad that auction didn’t bring more return for the seller. Looking through the names, they are mostly hand reg and low end drop catch names – but for the most part they do have some value. In my opinion, leaving these names on BB is more a liability than a benefit, with their restrictions against selling on other platforms and high sales commission rate.

Thought I’d post an update here to say the winner paid swiftly and all domains have been transferred.

Considering all the attention the auction got, the result of less than $25 per published name is pretty poor and not a good sign of things to come for those that look to sell BB names in the reseller market.

Personally for me it’s all good because the main goal for me was to sell some names from my portfolio while working towards a smaller but higher quality portfolio. Most of the names in this lot we’re registered by me 2 or 3 years ago when I was quite new to domaining and my focus these days is on a different type of names.

I’ve giving the 30 days notice on my remaining names with both BrandBucket and their competitor Brandroot as I have had more success selling directly via my own For-Sale landing pages without paying commissions.

As for anyone wondering about the buyer, he’s actually a NamePros member since 2004 already:
