There was a sale on the Sedo sales report that caught my eye this week, it was not a blockbuster sale by any means. I always look at the other tld sales section and focus on the random .net and .org sales.
Every domain investor owns several similar names that are basically reg fee names that beg the question, “Why did they even register that ?”
This week D-One.net sold for $2,900. Not a huge amount of money by any means but a nice price for a name like that. It turns out on top of the nice price it also had a nice holding period, One Month !
The domain was backordered at Pheenix after being dropped 3 times over the past 18 years.
The random nature of the business causes some to ponder, some to yell and some to claim bs, but the fact remains you just never know what is going to sell sometimes. Congrats to the seller.
CoOol. Nice sale but I would still stay away from buying such type of domains ๐
Right, this post was not a recommendation of that name or name type. It is more about seeing things are very random. Many domain owners get frustrated or question their portfolio quality. Sometimes you have no idea what will sell.
Is it an upgrade from a .XYZ? ๐
lol
Domain sales charts have a low signal-to-noise ratio. Lots of random sales with complicated back-stories we just need to filter out. Better to home in on consistent selling patterns.
While you are right, I am interested in the back story of all the out there type sales. An LLL.com selling for $50,000 is taken for granted. I like understanding the thought process behind sales that seem like they got maybe the only buyer in the world. I think because I have made a lot of those type sales.
Could have something to do with “D1” being the oft-used abbreviation / shorthand for NCAA Division I. Kinda strange nonetheless.
