In April of 2010, Sedo held what was the biggest .tv auction of all time. Over $800,000 in sales took place. The auction came about with a new pricing structure in .tv, and the registry put up a bunch of names for Sedo to sell. 2.TV was one of the names listed and it went for $4,600 to Mike Berkens.
Mike has sold his portfolio to Go Daddy (except for new gtlds and adult names). There was a report on Ename.cn that an investor Sheng Wang has purchased the domain in the high six figure CNY range. 1 CNY = .1533 USD so if high six figures is 700,000 for example then the name cleared $100,000. Of course that is speculation on my point, these ambiguous amounts given make these sales open to wide speculation.
Weng said he also owns several repeating two letter .tv like FF.tv,DD.tv and TT.tv. These names were all owned by someone else in 2015 so Mr. Wang has been on a buying spree.
In other LL.tv related news Kassey Lee let me know that QC.tv has sold for 160,000 CNY.
In the Feb 17 auction, qc.tv was sold to an angel investor for 160,000 CNY.
qc:汽车>Car
qc:青春>Youthfulness
qc:前程>Future prospect
qc:钱财>Money and wealth
qc:雀巢>Bird nest
qc:求财>Seek wealth
This name can be used in industries such as car, recruitment, finance, ecommerce. The seller is located outside China.
With Alibaba, Baidu, and Le TV spending billions of dollars on video platforms, many domain investors increasingly value the importance of .tv. For example, 2.tv was sold recently for about 800k CNY.
What a great domain worth every penny.
So Godaddy pocketed that cash ?
I reckon that is a $100k name, cheers to both buyer and seller.
Nice to see some serious interest in the .tv extension
Surely this “data” has come from the buyer and not Godaddy. Why not just state the price instead of something that could mean just anything?
Would be sceptical of non verified data as there is probably a big incentive for the price to look higher than it is to try and set a market, much like the industry was taken in by the “big chinese auction” a couple of months ago where most of the sales never even took place.
Would you know if it’s a premium renewal name?
In any case, 100k is a very good price for 2.tv
Non premium Samit.
