Third Party Publishes BrandBucket Sales Data with Actual Sales Figures

January 2, 2016 by Raymond Hackney

BrandBucket

There was a comment left by someone here that contained a link to sales at BrandBucket. In the past I did a post a few years back that had the names and put together some common trends, Todd added some extra depth to the data as well.

Doron from DNGeek.com compiled even more sales on his blog in a very popular post. Again no sales figures, but now DNBolt.com has actual sales numbers.

Let me make clear I do not know how the sales data was compiled. Michael Krell messaged me that the data is not complete and sometimes the data is inaccurate.

I saw one of my own names in there that sold, but the price was much lower than listed because the sale was negotiated.

These prices do not look great.

To be clear, BrandBucket does not publish our sales besides my monthly posts on NPs that includes my personal BB sales from last month with no prices.

This list contains names that have not been sold, inaccurate prices (both lower and higher), and doesn’t contain all of our sales.

I saw two of my domains that sold there for exact price where does this info come from? Is it an accidental leak?

Build a time machine and go back to 2002 when it was originally registered.

Kidding aside, it’s rare for BrandBucket to list a domain above $5k. The ones that do are either 4L, very cleaver and/or aged.

There are still domains like this that can be thought of and registered for the first time. You just have to think about what’s popular. You’ve probably heard somebody say, “I’ll go brew a fresh pot of coffee” besides coffee, what are the main words? Fresh and Brew. Go, the verb, is also a good word. Something like GoFresh.com (1998) or GoBrew.com (2005) are also nice brandables.

If you can’t build (or afford) a time machine, monitor expired domain auctions. Sometimes these owners own thousands of domains, and a few are forgotten about and expire.

Who exactly is behind Dnbolt.com and why does he do what he does?
